The Raw Milk Adventures
by Jaxon on March 2, 2010

Many people cringe at the thought of drinking raw milk. After all it's pretty much right out of the cow's udder right? Well, yes! But what most people do not know is that the majority of the problems with our milk supply occur after the milk is extracted.
Pasteurization is the process of partially sterilizing foods at a temperature that destroys harmful microorganisms. Milk is pasteurized as well as homogenized; a process that involves breaking apart cells to make the mixture the same throughout. The goal of pasteurizing milk is to destroy certain disease-carrying germs and prevent the souring of milk. However pasteurization and homogenization come at a heavy cost. It kills off the milk's natural antibodies, beneficial bacteria, and destroys much of it's nutritious constituents.
Should you drink raw milk?
The answer is simply yes and yes. Studies show that 95% of dairy farmers drink their milk raw, before it is sent off to be pasteurized. The key to finding clean, healthy raw milk, is simply finding a dairy farm that raises clean and healthy cows. Free range grass fed cows provide a supply of raw milk that is completely safe and healthy for you and your family, and that tastes MUCH better. Contrary to popular opinion, animal fats, particularly from grass-fed animals, are essential for good health and immunity. Raw milk is a rich source of fat-soluble, vitamins A and D and other crucial nutrients in short supply in many western diets.
The hidden truth behind pasteurization
Pasteurized cow's milk on the other hand should completely be avoided. It has been associated with a number of symptoms and illnesses including: diarrhea, bloating, gas, allergies, colic in infants, osteoporosis, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, autism, and more. If you cannot get your hands on raw milk, then you should probably not be consuming milk at all.
