    Land of Milk and Honey
Archaeologists digging in northern Israel have discovered evidence of a 3,000-year-old beekeeping industry and what they believe are the oldest intact beehives ever found. This offers unique evidence that an advanced honey industry existed in the Holy Land at the time of the Bible, and that this was part of an organized economy, in an ultra-organized city. This dates right after the time of King Solomon when from the Bible, Israel appears to be somewhat of a world empire.

    Matisyahu World
Popular religious music is very often copycat, and without creativity or true expression. I am drawn to musicians who use their music as a positive or spiritual outlet while maintaining their musical originality, and without conforming to social or religious norms. Matisyahu is one of my favorites. He is a Hassidic Jew who sings rap, rock, reggae and beat-boxes. His music will lock you in while his words will move you. The Wall on his site is pretty cool too.

    Zoroastrianism
During the end of the Babylonian captivity, Babylon was overthrown by Persia. During this time Zoroastrianism (possibly the oldest monotheistic religion) was the largest and most powerful religion in the world. In keeping with the religion's belief to be very tolerant of other religions and cultures, King Cyrus of Persia encouraged the Israelites to return to their homeland and even paid to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. It is thought that Judaism was influenced by Zoroastrianism during this time, due to Zoroastrianism's large influence on the world, and its eagerness to lend a helping hand. Ironically, many concepts of Zoroastrianism show up in the Bible during the time of the captivity, having not been present in earlier scriptures.
